Asiya’s Experience with the Symmetrikit Primo Sleep System

Asiya has spina bifida, hydrocephalus and scoliosis which can affect her sleep. When Asiya was a baby, we received the Symmetrikit Primo Sleep System through a physiotherapy and occupational therapy referral.

As we were living in Scotland at the time, we were directed by her physio to the charity Kindred who were amazing and helped us secure funding for the Primo super swiftly.

At the time, we didn’t fully realize just how much of a difference it would make, but it has become an essential part of her sleep routine. Now at 2 years old, she still uses it, and we expect it to last for several more years. The best part of all is we also take it with us when we travel!

What is the Symmetrikit Primo Sleep System?

The Symmetrikit Primo Sleep System is a specialist postural support bed designed for children with additional needs. It helps maintain a comfortable and safe sleeping position, providing the right level of support to prevent postural issues and ensure a good night’s sleep. The system is adjustable, allowing it to adapt as a child grows, making it a long-term solution for better sleep positioning.

Ongoing Support and Adjustments

One of the best things about the Primo Sleep System is the ongoing support we receive. Even though we have moved from Scotland to England we still receive the same support. Every six months or so, an occupational therapist and a Symmetrikit representative come out to check the system, ensuring it is still meeting Asiya’s needs. They make any necessary adjustments and provide guidance on how to optimize its use as she grows. This level of support has been invaluable in making sure she continues to benefit from it.

Why It’s Been So Important for Asiya

Sleep is essential for every child, but for children with additional needs, having the right support can make a world of difference. The Primo Sleep System has been a game-changer for Asiya, keeping her comfortable, reducing restlessness, and ensuring her spine stays properly aligned. It gives us peace of mind and makes bedtime easier for the entire family. When traveling, it’s even more reassuring—there’s no stress about finding suitable bedding. We simply place the Primo on any available surface, and she sleeps just like she does at home. Exactly what you need for your baby/toddler when you’re away!

Looking Ahead

Asiya’s sleep system has already provided so much benefit, and we’re grateful that it will continue to support her for years to come. If you’re considering a postural sleep system for your child, we highly recommend discussing it with your physiotherapist or occupational therapist. The right setup can truly make a world of difference!
